Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your information when you visit spainfoodguide.com.

Spain Food Guide ("we", "us", "our") operates spainfoodguide.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We are committed to keeping your data safe and using it only for the purposes described below.

1. Information we collect

We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it — for example, when you subscribe to our newsletter, submit a message through our contact form, or apply to be featured. The information we collect may include your name, email address, the name of your business, the city or region you operate in, and any message you send us.

We also automatically collect certain technical information when you visit the Site, including your IP address (anonymised before storage), browser type, device type, pages visited, and approximate location at the country/city level. This is collected via standard analytics tools.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to: send you the Spain Food Guide newsletter when you have opted in; respond to your enquiries and feature applications; understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve our editorial coverage and site experience; and protect the Site from spam, abuse and security threats.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Cookies and analytics

This Site uses essential cookies that are required for the Site to function (such as remembering your cookie preferences). It also uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visitor behaviour. Google Analytics may set cookies that collect information including your IP address. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymise IP addresses where supported.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may limit some functionality.

4. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored with our email service provider (currently Mailchimp / equivalent ESP). We use it solely to send you the newsletter and occasional related editorial updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate the Site, including hosting (Hostinger), analytics (Google Analytics), and email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf under standard data-processing agreements. They are not authorised to use your data for their own purposes.

6. Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Spanish Organic Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LOPDGDD), you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict our processing; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@spainfoodguide.com and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact-form messages are typically retained for up to two years for reference. Analytics data is retained for up to 26 months.

8. Security

We use HTTPS encryption across the entire Site and follow standard security practices to protect personal information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take this responsibility seriously.

9. Children

This Site is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with the "Last updated" date below.
