El Naranjo Santa Eulària: A Restaurant Worth Returning To

A first-hand guide to El Naranjo in Santa Eulària, Ibiza: the garden setting, dishes to order and why I went back twice in three days.

El Naranjo Santa Eulària: A Restaurant Worth Returning To

Quick answer: El Naranjo is a garden restaurant in Santa Eulària des Riu, Ibiza, where I returned for dinner twice in three days. Go for the relaxed courtyard, warm service and well-made classics, especially the salmon tartare, beef Wellington, roast duck and Sunday Royal Couscous.

Some restaurants are worth trying once. Others make you cancel plans to eat somewhere else. That was my experience at El Naranjo in Santa Eulària. I was only staying in town for three nights, yet I went back for dinner twice because I did not want to risk missing another meal here.

Behind the entrance, El Naranjo opens onto a leafy courtyard that feels tucked away from the main streets of Santa Eulària. It is the kind of setting that makes dinner feel unhurried. The cooking is confident and classical rather than showy, and the welcome felt genuinely warm.

Why I went back to El Naranjo

El Naranjo has been welcoming guests since the 1970s, and Chef Javier carries that experience into food that is polished without becoming formal. The focus is simple: well-handled ingredients, homemade sauces, seasonal cooking and dishes that do not need a complicated explanation to be memorable.

The indoor room has its own character too, with warm wood, art and a more intimate feel for evenings when you prefer to sit inside. But the courtyard is the part I kept thinking about. Surrounded by greenery, it is easy to forget that you are in the centre of Santa Eulària.

What I would order at El Naranjo

Foie gras pâté

The foie gras pâté was a rich, silky start to the meal. It had the kind of balanced texture that feels luxurious without becoming heavy, and it set the tone for the cooking that followed.

Salmon tartare

The salmon tartare was one of my favourite starters. The finely cut salmon was lightly seasoned and presented with a freshness that stopped it feeling too rich. It was elegant, refreshing and disappeared much faster than I wanted it to.

Javier’s beef Wellington

Chef Javier’s Wellington is a beef dish, not fish. Each serving is prepared individually, so the pink beef fillet stays tender inside crisp puff pastry. With mushroom filling and a rich homemade sauce, it is a personal version of the British classic and one of the strongest main courses I tried.

Roast duck

The roast duck offered exactly the contrast I hope for from this kind of dish: crisp skin, tender meat and a deep sauce that supported the duck rather than hiding it. It is classic cooking, but it is done with real care.

Sunday Royal Couscous

If you are in Santa Eulària on a Sunday, ask about the Royal Couscous. This is a generous shared platter of steamed couscous, slow-cooked meats and vegetables. The version photographed here includes several meats, vegetables and the couscous served alongside, making it the kind of relaxed, abundant Sunday meal that is best enjoyed with a group.

Homemade dessert

Dessert was worth saving room for. The house-made cake we tried was served simply with cream, which was exactly right after the richer main courses: not too sweet, properly homemade and a calm ending to dinner.

The small details that make it special

As good as the food is, what stayed with me most was how welcoming the restaurant felt. The service makes you feel like a returning guest, even on a first visit, and the cooking has the assurance of a team that knows its own style.

El Naranjo is particularly useful if you are staying in Santa Eulària, Siesta, Es Canar, Cala Llonga or elsewhere on eastern Ibiza and want a proper dinner away from the louder beach-club rhythm. It works for a quiet table for two, but the Sunday couscous also gives groups a good reason to book together.

My final recommendation

If someone asked me where to enjoy one of the best dinners in Santa Eulària, El Naranjo would be one of the first restaurants I would mention.

It combines outstanding cooking, genuine hospitality and a beautiful hidden courtyard in the centre of town. I would recommend it for a romantic dinner, a peaceful meal with friends or a Sunday visit built around the Royal Couscous.

Would I return?

Without hesitation.

In fact, I already returned during the same three-night stay. The next time I am in Santa Eulària, I will be checking the restaurant’s Google Business Profile and booking another table.
