Independent places with a point of view

Spain Food Guide features the people, places, and traditions that make Spanish food one of the world’s most loved cuisines. We are not interested in restaurant chains, in pay-to-play features, or in lists copied from other websites. We cover places we have eaten at, talked to the people behind, and would recommend to a close friend.

• Independent restaurants at any price tier — from a 20€ menú del día to a tasting menu, as long as the kitchen has a clear point of view
• Family-run tabernas, bodegas, asadores with regional roots and a story behind them
• Markets, bakeries, butchers, fishmongers, specialty food shops where Spaniards actually shop
• Wineries, cideries, vermouth bars, tasting rooms — producers and the places that pour them
• Cooking schools and food tours run by locals, not by tour operators

What we don’t cover

If your place is in this list, we are not the fit

• Restaurant chains — even the well-loved ones
• Places that have paid for placements on other publications (we will spot it; it changes how we read everything else about you)
• Restaurants we cannot visit in person — we do not write features from press packs
• Hotel restaurants, unless the kitchen is genuinely independent and locally significant
• Anywhere with a pattern of complaints from staff or local press about working conditions

How it works

Our process, transparently

1. You submit the form below.
2. We read every submission. We will reply within 14 days if we are interested in visiting.
3. If we visit, we visit anonymously and we pay our own bill. You will not know we have been there.
4. If the place clears our editorial bar, we publish a feature within 4–8 weeks of the visit.
5. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Ever. If you have a budget for sponsored content, see Partner With Us instead.
